Has a good beat and you can dance to it.

Knocked over a guitar stand. Did not throw out a hip.

Listening to it also distracted me from responding to hairshirthedonist’s most recent link at OBWI regarding the genocidal but nauseatingly public relations buffoonery of the fascist NRA with a series of bad, bad epithets and threats of further harsh talk.

good god that is funky. and tina kills it without breaking a sweat. she’s who robert plant wanted to be when he grew up.

ike’s from clarksdale MS. there is something about the lower Mississippi river watershed – from Memphis to the Gulf – that gets into folks’ sense of time. it’s just fat and unrushed, even when they’re playing fast – big wide spaces between the notes – and and when they land on the one they just let it sit there for a moment before moving on.

Booker and the MGs, the Stax crew, all the Memphis cats, the Swampers, Levon Helm (from Arkansas), all the trad blues guys. Papa Mali, every damned musician in and around NOLA. On and on and on.

    They have a thing.

New York cats play way on top, LA cats don’t like to break a sweat, Nashville cats play clean time right down the middle. But Gulf Coast cats just are not in any damned hurry, they just wait for the time to come to them.

    And it does.

Was it you that started me watching Adam Neely? Love him.

Also, just returned from Baton Rouge (with a side trip to NOLA). Nothing compares to that vibe.
Even when the music isn’t playing, it doesn’t stop.

    “why twice?”

Must have been a blues riff. Tell it twice.

Go for thrice and I’ll read it again.
