"I'm going to be called Dr. Marijuana Pepsi!" she declared.

...

It's fitting that an African American woman who has gone through life as Marijuana Pepsi chose as her dissertation topic: "Black names in white classrooms: Teacher behaviors and student perceptions."

Well, it’s a more musical name than say, Dr. Hash Coke.

I’ve always wondered what Dr. Pepper’s given name was. Or was he Mr. Pibb before earning his doctorate?

I wonder if there will be trademark questions, now that the cat is out of the bag.

The doctor who used to do my colonoscopies was Dr. Rector.

It could have been worse: Dr. Tass Tasize, for example, but you can call me Uh Oh, for short, since we are going to be seeing a lot of each other over the next to-be-determined amount of time.

Conservative religious loudmouths who are revealed to be lying, stealing, and cheating, perhaps even canoodling with under-aged recently graduated fetuses, invariably turn out to have absurdly apt names, in fact, their names should have been a warning to their victims and the world at large.

I draw the line at naming stadiums, especially baseball stadiums, after boring commercial feces logos, however. I was recently in Comerica Park in Detroit, which is the latest incarnation of the old Tiger Stadium (secondarily Navin Field and then Briggs Stadium when actual individuals, not the real people of today, corporations were so honored) in Detroit, and I fully expected to see nine guys in suits and briefcases sitting at desks on the field signing up players on the other team for high-interest loans.

I mean, just once I would like to visit a Comerica branch location and notice the bank’s new name: “The House That Kaline Built”.

Dr Rector was a solemn, sober sort. I would have preferred if he entered the procedure room in a rapid, low stooping walk like Groucho Marx, removed the cigar from his mouth and announced that HE was ready to get all up in there, but what about me.
