Get My Rocks Off

Was snooping around YouTube, looking for vids of the Stones doing "Rocks Off", cause it's Exile On Main Street month, or something... anyway, I found some good stuff, including covers of that song by Spoon and Yo La Tengo. Very cool.

And then I found this...

Dr Hook just blew my mind ... and not in a nice way.

Something odd happens around 3:20. And then... the bass solo. OMG. Crazy hippy freakout action.

I'm glad I missed that scene.

Speaking of Dr. Hook and crazy hippy freakout action (and the two subjects do go together very nicely), I’ve got a dvd somewhere of him playing in Germany in the 70’s — there’s an extended guitar solo (IIRC) during which the camera is on the pedal steel player, his pupils about the size of his face, crawling under his instrument seeking shelter from some divine onslaught. (Possibly the video you are embedding, which I can’t watch from this computer, is the same as the one I’m talking about.)

i like the idea of a band with two extra dudes who seem to be there solely to get in the way.

makes being in a band just like working in an office.
