    cleek,

Did you ever see this Smarter Every Day video of Destin’s interview of Obama at the White House?

As for the “one-way speed of light”, I wish the Veritasium video had addressed the question “WHICH way”. In the space-time diagram near the end, for instance, I’d throw in a 3rd world-line, exactly opposite the one for Mars, and puzzle out what the skew DOF for the light cone would imply.

      that’s pretty cool.

i’ve just recently discovered him, thanks to YouTube’s recommendations. interesting stuff!

YouTube is my main source of video entertainment nowadays. My taste in videos is … eclectic. Nerdy stuff, DIY stuff, old BBC stuff, animal rescue stuff, political stuff (check out Beau of the Fifth Column) and lately counter-apologetics stuff. I hope to drive the algorithm nuts, eventually.

Speaking of that last bit: this guy Destin is an out and proud god-botherer of the better sort. When you have an hour to kill, you might enjoy his talk at Skepticon a few years ago.

YouTube thinks i only want to watch cooking, math and Chick Corea vids. and maybe i do want to watch them sometimes, but not exclusively. so i’m to the point where i’m afraid to click on any of its recommendations because it will make the algorithm suggest even more of them.

oh yeah. now that you mention it… i do remember that video about his Obama interview. it was a bit of a big deal that a conservative came that close to Obama, didn’t burst into flames, and had respectful things to say about him.
