Note that little amp he's using; it's a Fender Champ. Telecaster into a Champ happens to be the same setup Joe Walsh used for "Funk 49". Lot of good sounds in that little combo.

The melody of that Nocturne reminds me of the theme (“Wild Theme”?) running through Local Hero, which I see by googling is by Mark Knopfler. Do you know if there is any connection, cleek?
Hmm. Yeah, I can hear some common stuff going on there. Sounds like the first few bits of the Nocturne melody, and maybe some similar chord changes, are in the Knopfler piece.
Don’t know if that was deliberate or not. As far as I know Nocturne is old but was somewhat obscure.
I keep hearing some other tune in Nocturne, too. But maybe it’s just that classic old timey blues phrase at the end of the main melody.
