19 Days

Neurofibrosarcoma. Nerve sheath cancer.

Tricksey is about to start on 19 days of radiation treatments. Merry Christmas, T.

She'd prefer to just hide under the vet's exam room bench.

If all goes well, it won't give her a different cancer, kidney failure or general necropathy.

And, it turns out that there is an upper monetary limit that we'd put on saving T's life. It's shockingly high, but it exists. And it's within a fraction of what this is going to cost. For me, that's the most distressing part of this. The prognosis sounds reasonable aside from the aforementioned possible long-term side-effects. But knowing that we would be resigned to letting her die of this if the cost was 50% higher is heartbreaking.

    Good luck Tricksey.

How long until they know if it’s worked? Will she be coming home between treatments?

Don’t beat yourself up about the money though man. x

the plan is that we bring her to the vet’s every weekday AM and take her home in the evening. 19 days worth.

      but…

she had a CT scan yesterday, for which she had to be sedated. one of the lymph nodes near the tumor attracted the vet’s attention – waiting to see what that’s about. sigh. but, one of the side effects of anesthesia is that she can’t sleep after she wakes up. she literally hasn’t slept since Monday night. she walked around all night long howling because she was bored and wired and stoned. the same thing happened when she had the tumor removed a couple of weeks back – she was awake for 36 hours straight. we didn’t get much sleep either.

so, i don’t know how this can possibly work if she’s being sedated every weekday for four weeks. does she just not sleep for a whole week ?

    Poor kitty.

Look at it this way, cleek, she’s better off under your monetary restrictions than any of us are going to be under the cheap-ass, mass murdering medical Holocaust the anti-American killers in the Trump regime have planned for the rest of us.
