it’s not exactly exciting, but it’s very well designed and It Just Works.

put the Sonos app on my phone, unpacked the soundbar, hooked it to the audio out of my HDMI switch – soundbar! it listens to my TV remote or to my phone for volume control.

gave my phone the UNC path to my iTunes library; after a few minutes of indexing, all of it was available to play through the soundbar. fun!

unpacked the subwoofer, plugged in the power cord; told the Sonos app to pair the subwoofer to the soundbar. done! wirelessly! it just works!

put the Sonos app on my hand-me-down iPad, now it can control everything, too.

tonight i’ll add the rear satellites. they’ll all live in the same ‘room’ (in the Sonos app), and will all talk to each other wirelessly.

someday i’ll get the ‘Amp’ module that will drive the outdoor speakers. it will run independently of the TV room.

    Awesome!

It has (sometimes time consuming) hacks for nearly every “issue” I’ve had with it. So it’s been a pretty successful expenditure for me as well.

Try starting the music when you get in the driveway. There’s a certain charm to having an album playing when you walk in the door.

    the best part…

the cats are fine with sounds coming from the TV. they don’t even blink when there are cats on TV.

but when i put the Sonos Play:1s in the back of the room, they lost their minds. noises aren’t supposed to come from back there! what is that?!?!
