Did you know you can buy original artwork on Amazon? For example, original paintings ranging in price from a few hundred bucks for a painting of Batman with dogs for legs to $35K for an original Edouard Cortes to almost $800K for an original Montague Dawson.
I assume it's the same mix of retailers, dealers and amateur individuals that you find for all of Amazon's other stuff. But still...wild.

My wife unwittingly tried to sell a piece of forged art pottery and immediately got emails from experts and a takedown notice from ebay. I’ve heard the same tale about fake Gibsons.
Conversely, I listed what I took to be an ersatz Japanese Shin Gunto, and said as much in the description, only to hear from sword experts that, in fact, I had a genuine article. $300! Woo-hoo! I think I bought an amp with the loot.
