    John Prine – Paradise

    yum.

Faith Hill – There Will Come a Day

    hah! busted!

actually, a Jo Dee Messina song (I’m Alright – one of my wife’s, i guess) somehow snuck/sneaked/stole onto my iPod this weekend after i had to rebuild my iTunes library. a little Monday AM surprise.

    it’s Country Chick Monday!

Spoon? Already bought a couple White Stripes albums on your recommendation (which I like), would I like Spoon too?

everyone should love Spoon. there’s a Spoon song/video in my “Web’s Golden Bounty” list right now (from their new record). give it a whirl! you can also hear the (entire?) record on Merge’s website – if you want to preview.

the singer makes an appearance on the escalator.

start with the new one “Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga” or “Girls Can Tell”.

Spoon’s always been poppy – though their first couple of records (pre-“Girls Can Tell”) were a bit abrasive. with Girls Can Tell onward, they really embraced their inner Elvis Costello. and this record is just a bit more polished and tighter than the last (hand-claps? horns ?! fancy electronic sounds?!!). but there’s not a huge difference in the songs themselves. if you like this one, you’ll probably like any of their last three.

here’s Sister Jack from their last record.
here’s Anything You Want from Girls Can Tell (my fav Spoon song, evah)
