Name That Tune, #20!

On this, the third anniversary (or close enough) of the first Name That Tune, it's time for the 20th installment. And it's gonna be a good one. Well, it's intended to be good. We'll see.

And feel free to spread the word! The more contestants, the merrier. Right?

The theme this time honors the upcoming forty-first anniversary of my glorious birth. So, forty-one songs! Wow. Double-plus! And the manner in which the theme manifests in the songs should become obvious once you get into them.

NTT Opinions?

I'm thinking about doing something different with this upcoming Name That Tune. But I'd like your opinions, first...
Here are some things I'm considering:

  1. Make the timeline very short - one or two days, instead of four or five.
  2. Stop the contest as soon as every song has been identified. Obviously that makes it much more of a race, so I'd have to announce the start well in advance so everyone could get in before things get filled up. It also adds some strategy.
  3. Allow just one comment per person.
  4. Do not announce individual scores while it's on, just announce places.
  5. Don't announce places or scores.
  6. More hints up-front.

Here we go again!

The theme this time is : The Rock Cycle.

The name-that-tune part is the same as always: you get one point for identifying the song, and another point for identifying the artist. But, the theme adds a new twist.

The "Rock" part is easy: these are (mostly) "classic" rock songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's. The "Cycle" part is a bit more involved.

Who knew there were that many hard-core Floyd fans out there? I tried to dig deep into my collection, even going as far as purchasing Ummagumma and Obscured By Clouds, hoping to come up with something nobody would get. But, every song was named at least twice, and everybody got "Vera". And, one person got them all: our winner...
